Valérie Bissonnette is the president of Groupe Vélocité. As a creative producer, she has brought to life a wide range of compelling stories. Her first, the science fiction short G, won the NHK President’s Prize at the Banff World Media Festival. Soon after, she oversaw a successful film adaptation of the play Les grandes chaleurs (Heat Wave), the first leading role for François Arnaud (The Borgias, Blindspot). She subsequently teamed up with Christal Films to co-produce Pee-Wee 3D: The Winter That Changed My Life with Antoine-Olivier Pilon (Mommy). Valérie also produced Samuel Matteau’s first feature, Squat (Ailleurs), which took home the Best Narrative Feature award at the 2018 Cinema on the Bayou Festival and won kudos at the Focus on French Cinema festival. Highly acclaimed documentaries are also a part of Vélocité’s credits, the most recent of which is Les derniers vilains, co-produced with Breakout Entertainment.

Breakout Entertainment is a production company committed to developing, financing and producing domestic and internationally marketable films and series of all genres. Its diverse team consists of industry veterans from all areas, including development, production, casting, packaging, distribution and sales. Breakout also controls a full slate of popular IP titles such as Student Bodies, Big Wolf on Campus and Sirens to name a few. Breakout is also recognized for its feature film 3 Saisons. Nominated for three Genie awards including Best Film, Breakout is also the proud winner of the Best Canadian Feature Film and Best Actress awards at the Whistler Film Festival.
